Two electrically powered vehicles parked up outside NQ Solar yesterday was a sight to behold. The Tesla car is one of the first solely electric cars in Australia. It was seeking a top up of its batteries on its way through to tour the Far North. The Zero electric motorcycle is locally owned and dropped in for a peek at the Tesla.
The Tesla is a very smart looking vehicle, quite aerodynamic, with the polished silver door handles slipping seamlessly into the body of the car, upon the start of the noiseless engine. The Tesla S60 features a 60kWh battery pack and a single 225kW electric motor powering the rear wheels. This is good for a 0-100km/h time of 6.2 seconds, a top speed of 190km/h and a driving range of 390km.
The Zero 2015 model is able to accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in 4.0 sec. It has been crafted using aircraft grade aluminium, resulting in lower weight and higher strength allowing for greater responsiveness. The motor is air-cooled, designed to provide for fantastic riding with limited maintenance.
While the Zero motorcycle can be charged with any standard outlet, the Tesla requires to be charged with 3 phase power and a 5 pin outlet. The Tesla owner would like to view the Raveshoe Wind farm, so if you could assist with providing a charging station in the area for the Tesla, please contact NQ Solar on 07 4041 1911.
