Power Price Hits Homes Hard! - 8th October 2010

The price of power rose 13.29% on the 1st July 2010, this has hit hard as homeowners receive their first bill after the increase.  Homeowners should consider solar power to protect their pocket from further power bill rises.

The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) reported that the 13.29% increase to the cost of power, on the 1st of July 2010, would increase an average bill quarterly by $46.50. This is an increase of almost $200 per year for the family budget.

Karen Lloyd-Collins said, Queensland businesses and homeowners will now realise how much pressure the increase will place on their budget.

“Queenslanders should consider the renewable energy option to significantly reduce and potentially eliminate their electricity bill,” Karen says.

Many homeowners are reluctant to install solar as they have “heard” that the initial cost outlay is too high.

Solar is at it’s most affordable stage, Government Incentives provide thousands of dollars off the cost of installing a solar power system, making it affordable.
