What happens after signing an Ergon Energy IES Agreement? - 3rd August 2012

Did you sign an Ergon Energy Inverter Energy System (IES) Agreement? If so, are you wondering what happens next? NQ Solar will answer some commonly asked questions:

What is an IES Agreement?

According to Ergon Energy’s website (www.ergon.com.au), an IES Network Agreement outlines the terms and conditions for the connection of a solar PV system to the Ergon Energy distribution network. It is a legally binding agreement between Ergon Energy and the customer (not between the solar company and customer). This network agreement must be in place before installing a grid connected solar system. Ergon Energy will issue two copies of the IES Network Agreement. Customers should ensure they sign and return both copies before installing the IES to the network. We encourage customers to read the contract carefully and to seek legal advice where necessary.

Can I change the size of the inverter I selected?

YES, according to Ergon Energy’s, PV Industry Alert No. 9, the brand, model and series of the inverter can be changed without affecting 44c eligibility. The rated AC power cannot be greater than in the original application, however, it can be reduced. Any changes require the lodgment of an amended application.

Am I locked into the solar company on my IES agreement?

NO, you are still able to have NQ Solar install your system even if you lodged your application with another company’s details on it. The network agreement doesn’t lock you into using a particular solar installer.

When does my solar system have to be installed?

To receive your 44c feed-in tariff you will need to have your solar system installed before 30 June 2013. It would be best to plan ahead to ensure you receive your solar system before the end of June 2013.

What happens if I don’t install a system before June 2013?

If installation occurs after 30 June 2013, you are no longer eligible for the 44c tariff. You will be reassessed at 8c. If you decide not to install at all, there are no penalties.
